This song from Jamey Johnson is one of my favorite songs. As the father of two young boys myself, it really puts in perspective the things that are important. Debt freedom is really time freedom. Time to do the things you want and enjoy. Most of us are taught to trade time for money, and the more debt we accumulate, the more time we have to trade to pay for it.

Pretty soon many of us find that there is just not enough time to continue paying the bills. A solid financial plan begins by getting out of debt as an absolute basic foundation. You cannot build wealth for yourself if you are busy spending your time building wealth for your creditors.

Take a moment to imagine what your life would be like if you did not have payments. Would you really have to work all the time? Would you have all of the stress you currently have? Would you be able to actually enjoy life with your family? These are the things that people experience when they make the conscious decision that enough is enough and commit to becoming debt free.
